When Traditional Chinese Medicine Meets International Healthcare: Parkway and Yueyang Hospital Open a New Chapter in Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine
On 18 June, 2026, the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) cultural experience and international exchange event, “Echoes of the World, Pulse of China,” was successfully held at Parkway MediCentre Xintiandi. The event was hosted by Yueyang Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine and Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and was jointly organized by Parkway Shanghai, shedding light on the core principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Additionally, the event featured the official unveiling ceremony for the “Qian Yiming Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Workstation” and the “Sun Wuquan Tuina Workstation.”
The event began with a graceful Tai Chi performance that reflected the balance, softness, and strength of Chinese traditional wellness culture. Victoria King, a British doctor at Parkway as a Tai Chi enthusiast took part in the performance. Her participation added an international dimension to the opening and gave expatriate guests a vivid and memorable introduction to the rich heritage of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Hosted at Parkway MediCentre Xintiandi, this event featured an innovative "five-sense immersive" TCM experience, breaking away from the traditional single-format lecture approach to make abstract TCM theories tangible and accessible. To the soothing melodies of guzheng music, international guests explored the integrated experience zone, where they identified authentic medicinal herbs up close and sampled seasonal wellness teas, gaining firsthand insight into the Eastern philosophy that emphasizes the connection between food and medicine. The on-site sachet-making workshop received unanimous praise from attendees. In the TCM experience area, physicians from Yueyang Hospital's departments of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, Tuina, Acupuncture, Gynecology, and Dermatology provided on-site TCM consultations, acupuncture, tuina therapy for guests from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, India, South Korea, Malaysia, Egypt, and other countries — all of which were met with widespread acclaim.
Building on the strengths of both institutions, the two workstations will focus on areas such as sub-health management, cardiovascular conditions, post-operative rehabilitation, and musculoskeletal care. They will provide regular services including acupuncture, specialized Tuina, herbal treatment, and integrated Chinese and Western medicine health management.
